ShareHouse
4227 9th Avenue South - Fargo, ND 58103 ShareHouse is a program of ShareHouse, Inc. and since 1975, ShareHouse has provided chemical dependency services to adult men and women offering intensive primary treatment for individuals afflicted with the disease of alcohol/drug addictions.
Levels of programming include:
Spirit Program - (ASAM Level III.5)
This Residential Treatment program, which includes residential stay and a minimum of 30 hours per week of programming, is a daily structured schedule that offers individualized treatment programming and involvement in Twelve Step recovery groups.
A variety of groups are offered to provide a comprehensive approach to recovery including: anger management, cognitive restructuring, spiritual healing, living skills, gender group, and couples group. Individuals that participate in the Residential Treatment Program will commit to a minimum 28 day stay and will only leave the facility with staff. Individualized treatment plans are developed to address goals and objectives to support the client’s recovery.
Holistic Therapies
To enhance the programming efforts of addiction treatment, ShareHouse also offers holistic therapies to Spirit clients. These therapeutic treatments include:
- Acupuncture: Clinical evidence supports this form of holistic treatment for addiction control due to the fact that acupuncture can raise the level of endorphins in the nervous system. This holistic procedure can help addicts handle the burden of eliminating excess toxins from the body while in treatment.
- Yoga: Individuals who abuse drugs and alcohol or engage in other addictive behaviors often feel compelled to follow their urges and let their thoughts and emotions dictate their actions. Yoga provides an emphasis on focus, concentration, and impulse control.
Halfway House - (ASAM Level III.1)
This 24 hour staffed residential facility includes a weekly schedule of five hours of programming and provides daily therapeutic community meetings, random BA’s and UA’s in a structured living environment. A variety of groups are available to individualize a client’s recovery goals.
Extended Treatment - (ASAM Level II.5)
This Day Treatment program (which includes a minimum of 15 hours of programming) is a customized treatment plan that combines Spirit, Outpatient and Relapse Prevention. This program allows flexibility for the client to work and continue living in a supportive/structured living environment or to move back to their respective home and complete their treatment as an out patient.
Relapse Prevention Group - (ASAM Level II.1)
This is a six week (18 session) program with the goal “To build an effective plan and skills to prevent relapse by identifying, analyzing, and learning to manage relapse triggers”. Individuals who have experienced multiple treatment episodes will benefit from this program.
Dual Diagnosis - (ASAM Level I)
This dynamic group experience addresses clients experiencing both chemical dependency and mental health issues. This group focuses on helping people develop life management skills to cope with their anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, bipolar, grief and loss, and personality disorders.
This group provides a continuance of care for individuals to discuss their chemical dependency and mental health problems that occur following primary treatment.
Continuing Care - (ASAM Level I)
This is a twelve week (12 session) program offered to clients who have completed a primary treatment and are in need of an aftercare program. This is for an individual that is starting to live their life without mood-altering substances. Group “check-in’s” center around how the client is coping with work, school, and relationships. This group also addresses how the client is applying the coping skills that were learned in primary treatment, processing relapse issues and discussing AA/NA attendance and sponsorship. The group is an open discussion pertaining to lifestyle changes related to recovery.
DUI Seminar - (ASAM Level 0.5)
This sixteen hour course uses the Prime for Life materials. Exercises provide the students with structured opportunities to apply what they have learned through self examination of the actual and potential costs of DUI behavior to society and to the individual.
All participants are required to attend all sessions and pass the final test with at least a score o f 70%. The seminar is offered monthly, Monday through Thursday, 5:30-9:30 pm. Fees are competitively priced and scheduled for the convenience of the participants.
Grief Recovery Group
This group is designed to help individuals address unresolved, loss/grief issues while in treatment. Participants are referred by counselors and depending on a resident’s schedule or situation, the courses are offered either for group setting or individual sessions. The group is 1.5 hours in length, twice each week, for a period of 6 weeks, and includes individual sessions.
Minors In Possession (MIP) - (ASAM Level 0.5)
This class is an educational program held for anyone under the age of 21 who has been charged with either minor in possession or minor in consumption. Attendees to this program are usually referred by probation officers or the school and attend classes the first Thursday of the month from 6:00 to 9:30 pm.
Gender Specific Programming:

BAM - Being A Man
This men’s group meets twice a week for six weeks, Monday for one hour and Thursday for 1.5 hrs. BAM is a closed process group designed to explore issues that affect men concerning growth, development and maturity level. Discussions dealing with issues utilizing a series of worksheets focused on relationships, father or primary male role model, work/overwork, money, sex, family, children, social/peer impact and losses. The goal of this group is to help participants identify significant persons and situations that have had a major impact on their development as a male in today’s society. -
WE - Women's Empowerment
The group uses the psycho-educational and cognitive-behavioral techniques developed by Dr. Stephanie S. Covington and focuses on a strength based approach for women experiencing childhood abuse, rape, battering, and other forms of interpersonal violence. This closed group meets twice a week for 1.5 hours for 6 weeks with concurrent individual sessions.
