ShareHouse is pleased to offer two holistic therapies to compliment their programming services to its residents.

Acupuncture

Clinical evidence supports this form of holistic treatment for addiction control due to the fact that acupuncture can raise the level of endorphins in the nervous system. This holistic procedure can help addicts handle the burden of eliminating excess toxins from the body while in treatment.

In the treatment of chemical dependency, five acupuncture points in the ear have been chosen. These include liver, lung, kidney, sympathetic, and shen men (spirit gate). Combined, these points help to reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, calm the mind, reduce pain, and assist the body in detoxification. Clients often express feeling calmer, more balanced, and more relaxed after a session and the long term benefits can be significant.

Yoga and Recovery
The introduction of Yoga to a recovery program and alcohol and drug treatment program creates a unique experience for the person who is struggling with addiction. It provides them with the addition of something positive and enlightening to fill their lives with. It also gives them the chance to explore a new and healthy approach to living in sobriety.

Benefits of Yoga for Treatment Participants:

Enhancing Physical Health - going through an addiction treatment program can be difficult. As a result, people who are in better physical shape may have an advantage over those who are not. Yoga is great exercise and taking part in a class can help strengthen the condition of those who take part.

Enhancing Focus - in treatment programs, people may be suffer from worry and distractions about things going on in the outside world. Yoga can help provide the focus needed to shut out those temptations and distractions.

Providing Proper Balance - Yoga is about finding the balance between mind, body and spirit. Nobody benefits more from balancing then recovering addicts who have seen what it like when their lives are out of control

Benefits for Including Yoga in Treatment Programs for the Facility:

Adding a healthy element to provide patients with is key to the success of a treatment program. It allows the patients to see that the facility is concerned with the success of their treatment progress and is giving them an alternative approach to filling the void that the absence of alcohol or drugs has left with when they begin their sobriety.
Giving the additional services of offering Yoga to participants in a treatment program can assure patients that the facility wants them to succeed, and believes in creating the balance and support that they need during the treatment process.
Creating a unique approach to the treatment program for all of the participants and helping patients introduce health and wellness back into their lives.
